10 passos para fazer um piso de madeira envelhecido faça você mesmo
Nothing beats the look and charm of a vintage wood floor, and this style is popular with people who want a lived-in feel for their homes and businesses.
Creating that distressed look on a new floor is easy in concept, but it can be time- and labor-intensive and takes some artistic skill. Still, if you prefer a hand-distressed floor to pre-distressed flooring, the process can be fun and even economical. Making sure the floor lives up to its look means taking no shortcuts on proper installation.
10 Steps: How to Create the Distressed Wood Floor You Want
1. Selecione seu piso de madeira
Softer woods like pine dent and distress more easily and deeply than harder woods. Very dense woods like maple and many exotics take more effort to distress and may not end up with as authentic a look.

3. Install the floor
Once the flooring has reached its EMC, install it according to the manufacturer’s directions.
4. Pratique sua técnica de angústia
Practice on scrap pieces first to be sure you get the look you want. Depending on the technique, the marks may be permanent, and deep marks may not sand out, so you want a clear idea of the effect each tool or object will produce. Work carefully around knots, too, since they can throw tools in unexpected directions.
Ferramentas para experimentar incluem:
- escovas de arame
- raspadores e lixadeiras manuais
- martelos (cabeças ou garras), malhos, chaves de fenda
- amaciadores de carne de metal
- lâminas de serra
- ferros de solda para marcas de queimadura ou cicatrizes
- metralhadoras
- a cloth bag or sock filled with bolts or rocks
- high-heeled or hobnailed shoes
- elos de corrente de metal
- objects to embed, like nail heads, bolts, or screws
You can also use a commercial floor sander with specialized distressing disks or a distressing drum. Keep the motion random for an authentic look, and collect the sawdust thoroughly for health and safety on the job site.
5. Comece a desgastar a madeira
Trabalhe com o grão of the wood as much as possible, and vary the angle of your tool to alternately tear the grain or create burnished areas. Stomp, grind, scratch, or beat until you’ve reached the look you want.
Keep in mind that deeper distressing in traffic areas will look more authentic, but even low-wear areas need some distressing for a consistent aged look. If time allows, let natural foot traffic slightly wear and darken some areas too (as long as shoes aren’t muddy).

6. Keep the floor at service conditions
Keep the space at service conditions throughout the process, and don’t let excess moisture reach the flooring while you’re distressing it. Unfinished flooring quickly absorbs moisture from spills or from high relative humidity in the building. If it isn’t thoroughly dried out again, that moisture will cause problemas na estrada.
7. Prepare o piso para a coloração
Vacuum up all the sawdust on the distressed floor. Lightly sand or scrape down any burrs or splinters created during distressing.
8. Destaque pontos individuais
If you like, highlight features like knots or embedded objects with dark wood filler, dark stains, or even ink or resins.
9. Apply stain
You can highlight the distressed areas by applying several shades of stain and scraping between each one for a very distinct look, or let a single stain color settle into the dents and textures of the distressed wood with each coat. Make sure each coat of stain dries completely before applying the next, according to the manufacturer’s directions.
10. Finish and enjoy
Apply your floor finish according to the manufacturer’s directions. A distressed floor needs the same maintenance as any other wood floor, but the beauty of it is that wear and tear will only add to its charm and natural warmth.
